ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - A 32-year-old woman was found brutally murdered on Tuesday night outside Wolf's Flower Shop on Gravois Rd.  St. Louis Police spokesman James Gordon stated that the woman was identified by family as Alexis Lafayette, a local independent artist known by many area gallery owners.  The incident occurred around 07:50pm shortly before the store was closing.

Peter Kent, Wolf's Flower Shop manager, was on duty at the time of the incident.  He stated that an older black SUV slowly approached and parked just outside the store's entrance a few moments before the victim emerged from the store with merchandise in hand.  Mr. Kent indicated that three men wearing masks burst out of the vehicle visibly armed with knives and assaulted the victim before returning to the vehicle and leaving the area.

Spokesman Gordon reports that the police are exploring possible leads into the unexpected stabbing death of a woman they indicate has no prior criminal history or contacts.  The most disturbing detail of the incident is a message left at the crime scene next to the victim's body.  Written in chalk, it reads "A Rose bleeds red, will the King bleed blue? If there is any doubt, the next is one of you."

Spokesman Gordon was unable to confirm or deny the suspected emergence of a serial killer on the loose in St Louis and referred all further questions the St Louis Police Department's Public Affairs office.
